LaCross
Motorsports Finds Success at Talladega
Brent
Cross' Cortland based race team took their ARCA
car to the Talladega Superspeedway against some of
the best ARCA and NASCAR development drivers and
came home with a 24th place finish. The small team
of friends and family were very thrill to find
that their car was able to run in the draft and
stay on the lead lap.
Since
the team qualified 33rd, it took awhile for Brent
to get through the traffic and ended up loosing
the lead draft on the original start. After get
the "lucky dog" award on the first
caution, he found the car would keep up in the
draft on the restart. The team took advantage of a
couple of cautions to take on fuel and right side
tires, and by lap 50 they were ready to go the
distance. At that point they had worked their way
up to 15th position. Shortly after a caution for
the big wreck, Brent radioed in that he thought
there was a right front tire going flat. Forced to
pit during a green flag, the team assessed the
situation to actually be a siezed left front wheel
bearing, ending the team's chance at a top 20
finish in their first restrictor plate race.
Even
though the wheel bearing caused a DNF, the team
spirits were not dampened because of the
realization of countless hours of preparation
resulted in a car that was good enough to get
compliments from other competitors and ARCA
officials. This was a huge accomplishment for the
team of upstate NY racers. The crew consists of
Chuck Miller, Crew Chief and the over-the-wall
team of Aaron Cross, Eric Bomboy, Todd Caufield,
John Traphagen, Bob Cincotta, Wade Camenga, and
Matt Sheerin. Duane Canfield and Jim Caufield
worked from the spotters stands. Team LaCross
Motorsports is supported by Bestdeck Composite
Decking, Quadraflex Labels, Cummings Auto Machine,
D2K Graphics, Hedger Fabrications.
LaCross
Motorsports is planning for the next ARCA event at
Pocono Speedway on June 6, 2010. Anyone interested
