Team LaCross Tests at Daytona
The
team had worked hard to find new ways to make
their Superspeedway car faster and were anxious to
find out if they had succeeded. ARCA provides this
opportunity with winter testing at Daytona
International Speedway. This is the annual
preparation for the big race in February.
Chuck
Miller and the crew put in several hours of work
to fine tune the aerodynamics of the front fascia
and the back edge of the roof. They also worked on
the front end geometry in an effort to get more
aerodynamic compression in the front springs.
On
the way down to the test, Brent stopped in
Mooresville NC to get an estimate from Brian Smith’s
Carolina Fabrication to do some additional
aerodynamic body work. He offered some suggests on
how to “test” the theories about airflow over
the roof.
Upon
arriving on Friday, the team of Chuck Miller, Bob
Cincotta, John Traphagen, Matt Sheerin, Chris
Perry, John Cross and the Burton Family went to
work getting the car ready for the track. The
first day went well until late in the afternoon,
after changing the rear springs (per ARCA rules),
Brent found the car to be violently erratic in the
corners and almost hit the 3rd turn wall. After
bringing it back to the garage and going over it
with a fine tooth comb, no apparent cause was
found. Time ran out and there was not ...... Click

Another
Strong Showing at Pocono
During the
running of the Wies Markets 150 ARCA race at Pocono on
August 6, 2011, The LaCross Motorsports team demonstrated
why they can call Pocono their “home track”.
The team
struggled in practice to get the car to run as fast as
they are used to running, they discovered a burned up left
front wheel bearing right after a disappointing time trial
of 59.9 seconds (normally in the 57 second range).
With ARCA’s permission to make the fix the problem, the
team went to work on replacing the wheel bearing in time
for the race on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, they
discovered that the bearing had damaged the spindle and
they had to replace the entire lf suspension. As the raced

LACROSS ROLLS THE DICE AT POCONO
After a very
good qualifying effort (career best 20th), the team was
hopeful for a top 15 finish on the lead lap on race day.
With the weather looking very much rain, the crew
immediately started thinking about pit strategy to be
prepared for the likelihood that the race would be
shortened due to rain.
Just before
the pre-race ceremony, Bill Gerhart stopped by to recruit
someone to replace his rear tire carrier. I told him that
John Traphagen had the most experience on our team, so
Billy drafted him to be the rear tire carrier for the
famous Lucas Oil No. 5. With John heading out to play with
the "big boys", we drafted Kevin Warren to fill
in for him. This filled out our crew as follows:
Bob Thurston,
Jr as acting crew chief for Chuck Miller who was unable to
make this race Aaron Cross, car chief and jackman Wade
Camenga, front tire changer Kevin Warren, front tire
carrier Todd Caufield, rear tire changer Bob Cincotta,
rear tire carrier Eric Bomboy, gasman Dana Camenga, catch
can Duane Canfield, spotter ...... Click

LaCross Fulfills Dreams at Daytona
As
a group of short track racers from Central New York, most
of the team members had only dreamed of racing at Daytona.
But that is exactly what happened on 2/12/11 when Team
LaCross Motorsports from Preble, NY took the checkered
flag in the ARCA Slick Mist 200 at the World Center of
Racing. In the moments after the race, team members
embraced and shared emotions that most never thought would
happen.
The week went
smoothly as the team unloaded the car on Wednesday morning
and only had a couple of small compliance issues during
